Sharing my history

Hello everyone! I began this blog to share my history, inspire and encourage along this journey. I was born and raised Honduras. I became I follower of Christ at 19 in North Carolina, United States. My dream and desire is to bring the love of God to Latin America. The opportunity came early 2023 to be part of a mission team to Montevideo, Uruguay. After much prayer I was called to go and the adventure has begun! Contact me at the bottom if you have any questions or leave a comment. There a few links where you can support my mission efforts in Uruguay too. Thank you!

My First Month in Uruguay

Dinner

Birthday Dinner with Friends

This week I celebrated my birthday and a month since I moved to Uruguay. Last night we went out to a really great mexican restaurant in Montevideo!

Arriving

Arriving to Carrasco Airport

I look back at this month as a very challenging and transforming time for me. Moving to a country where I am a foreigner has put me in a position of faith and surrender to God's provision. Some of us that came in the mission team to start a church here; have to learn how to do housing, transportation, money, food, weather, etc.We have left the familiar for a place where things are different and new!

Touring Ciudad Vieja

Montevideo,Uruguay is incredible. It has so much diversity, culture and history. The people are friendly, kind and willing to help, for the most part. Our first couple of days here were packed with activities and places to go. I was getting over 20,000 steps somedays. A lot of walking!

Beach Day in Montevideo

Montevideo has over 2 million people. So it is packed and expensive to live. I am limiting my expenses as much as I can so I can afford staying as long as I can from my savings. The most challenging part for me has been finding a place to live. There is certain requirements to live here. I don't have legal documents as a Uruguayan citizen or a job either. I am currently staying in an Airbnb, but I don't like it. So I will move again this Saturday. I am having to learn to trust in God's provision for my living situation here.

Church in Montevideo

As a church we have been meeting consistently, sharing meals, singing, reading the Bible and praying together. I started to learn the guitar late last year, so I volunteer to step up and lead our worship. It has been really encouraging and fun playing songs to serve our group in that way. I did not expect that I was going to be doing this. Additionally, I am having to translate from Spanish to English and vice versa.

Drinking Mate for first time.

Asado - Typical of Uruguay

I took a great trip to a beautiful place called Colonia Del Sacramento.

Along the way, we stopped to do some horseback riding. One of the sisters fell from the horse. Thank God, he protected her and she was just a little sore!

Ride along Río De La Plata

Colonia it's magical and endearing. It's a small old town along the coast of Uruguay, just in the other side of the river from Buenos Aires, Argentina. The sunset, the moon, the vibe, food, weather and the views were incredible. It was such a great place to relax and recharge after moving to a new city. I needed this!

Pray for me and Uruguay. Pray that I can live out God's plan for me and love the people in Montevideo.

If you desire  in your heart to support financially, I will be grateful for any help while I am getting settled!
