“…let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.” (Heb 12:1-3, ESV)

Reading at a coffee shop one Sunday morning.
When came to Uruguay I did not realize what it all meant. I know that I wanted to make a difference with my life because of Jesus.
I did not know what it all meant to plant a small church in country far away from all the familiar. This past year has been a time when God has called me higher in my faith because of prayer. As I listened to him, I am finding out more what walking by faith means. I realized that it is not about what I want, God wants something greater in me.
There have been times when I have felt the ‘sentence of death’. When the internal struggle is so hard and I feel despaired that I want to quit.
I realized that it is not necessarily what I want. God will use whatever means to make me depend on him! What I need is greater faith!
A good brother from Argentina shared this with me:
“Don’t forget, this pain you are experiencing now is selflessly necessary to create Christ in me. That is everything! That is touching heaven closer with your hands, it is getting closer by a millimeter to be like our model Jesus.”
These words have been so comforting and encouraging to me!

Visiting Iguazu Falls between Brazil and Argentina
Early this year, I was able to take a trip on bus to Iguazu Falls. It was an incredible experience to see one of the natural wonders of the world. It is such an impotent and inspiring view of God’s creation.
After a long 20 hour bus ride and two stops from Montevideo, I arrived to the border. The temperatures were in the 90 degrees with a lot of humitidy. The experience was second to none.

A long waited dream for me, was to create a web page for my business doing work in Architecture and Engineering. Here is my selling pitch: MAE Design exists to provide a positive and friendly way to design your building. We work to find the desired space where you, your family or your team can live, work and play. We use the latest software in the AEC industry. We use local building codes and local city ordinances to design any space.
Check it out. It’s on the infants stage, but hope to continue growing this business while in the mission field.
Every year, the international churches in South Florida meet with church leaders, missionaries, and interns from all over to get trained and inspired for a whole week. I was able to come this year and spend sometime learning about God, his spirit and his work in the lives of his people.

Spiritual Formations Class from Roberto Carillo
Roberto Carillo shared some incredible perspective about the spiritual growth of every Christian. Life is a spiritual journey. As Jesus’s followers we will be perfected through what we suffer. From the elementary teachings and knowledge of Christianity we are being transformed. We are being tested and refined to create love, faith and peace. Our responsibility is to remove the false self to become our true self (Imago Dei). Confident, known by God, Guided by the Spirit, Kingdom Builder and Secure Surrender.
In the spiritual journey we go through the wall, the dessert and the dark night. For example, when we hit “The Wall” there is a process of spirituality, honesty, forgiveness, acceptance/surrender and love. We all have phases where we learn, grow, or stop. All this part of a critical journey that is necessary for the work of God on disciples of Christ. Check out Roberto’s website for more information:

My favorite part of the conference was to spend quality time with disciples who are fighting to keep faith and the flame the gospel shining in Latin America. It was a familiar place with many who are walking the same path.

Afterwards, I had the blessing to visit my home-home, Honduras. It felt led by God and his spirit encourage me with different conversations and events. One of the main reasons to go was to visit one of brothers. Also, my dad was able to join us for some time to enjoy each other and grow closer.
During my first Sunday there I visited the church in San Pedro Sula. I was also able to witness a baptism. The disciples in Honduras are so welcoming and loving. It is hard to put it into words how encouraging it is. It was a worthwhile trip!

Honduras is such a wonderful place. I feel really fortunate to have been born there. I don’t understand a lot of things that make Honduras difficult for a lot of people. But the one thing that touches me every time its the heart of people even though there are many needs. The opportunities in Honduras are very scarce and many are not able to get health care, education and work. It is heartbreaking at times to see the ways that many live and survive. But I appreciate some of the things they have; their simplicity, joy, perseverance, peace and a sense of family.

During my visit in Honduras, I was able to visit a very remote community with one of my cousins. He works for a non-profit that provides opportunities for a lot of families in rural Honduras by empowering them with tools needed to rise above poverty. It was such an amazing and heart felt experience to witness the inauguration of a project to bring wifi internet to a very small school. Check out their website for more information:
